Deryck is an Ontario Certified Teacher, outdoorsman, musician, composer, poet, Scouter, husband, and father. He moved to Peterborough/Nogojiwanong to attend Sir Sandford Fleming College, and ended up making The Lift Lock City his home after meeting his wife, Heather. He earned his B.Sc. in Biology & Environmental Science at Trent University and his B.Ed. at the University of Windsor. He was honoured to have been recently awarded the Sovereign’s Medal for Vounteers.
His work has recently appeared with Northern Otter Press, TunaFish Journal, Burnt Breakfast Mag, The Minison Project, Two Fingers Lit Mag, Green Ink Press, 433 Mag, Analogies and Allegories Lit Mag, Montana Mouthful, The Quarantine Review, Shambles Lit Mag, Cardigan Press, Loft Books, Bullshit Lit, Orchard Lea Press and others.
